MEXICAN CHEESE COOKIES 
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. butter, softened
1 c. shredded Monterey Jack cheese (4 oz.)
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten

Heat oven to 370 degrees. Mix sugar and butter; stir in cheese. Stir in remaining ingredients, except egg. Roll dough by teaspoonsful into sticks 3 1/2 x 1/2 inch. Press sticks lightly to flatten. Brush with egg. Bake until light brown around edges; 8-10 minutes. Immediately remove and cook on wire racks. Makes 24 cookies.
