BOSTON BROWN BREAD 
1/2 c. raisins
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. water
1 c. sugar
Pinch of salt
1 tbsp. butter, melted
Nuts; optional

Boil raisins in water for 10 minutes, then cool. Sift dry ingredients together and add to raisins and water. Add remaining ingredients; mix together. Bake in tine cans (fruit cans) filled 1/2 full. Add water if batter is too thick. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour.
