CANTONESE HAM CASSEROLE 
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen French style green beans
1 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. milk
1 c. sour cream
1 (5 oz.) can water chestnuts, drained & thinly sliced
1 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. soy sauce
2 c. diced cooked ham

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Oil 1 1/2 quart casserole. Pour boiling water over beans to defrost and drain well.

Melt butter and stir in flour gradually. Stir in the milk and soy sauce. Cook, stirring constantly until thickened.

Stir in sour cream, ham, beans and water chestnuts, in that order. Pour into casserole. Sprinkle with buttered bread crumbs and paprika if desired. Bake for 30-35 minutes. Serves 6.

If preferred, sprinkle with Chinese noodles instead of bread crumbs, but not until just before casserole is done.
