MARINATED SLAW 
1 large head cabbage, shredded
2 medium onions, chopped
1 medium carrot, shredded
1 medium bell pepper, chopped
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. vinegar
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. salad oil
1 1/2 tbsp. mustard seed

Combine cabbage, onions, carrot and bell pepper in a large bowl. Sprinkle with the 3/4 cup sugar. Mix well. Let stand while the dressing is prepared.

In boiler, combine vinegar, salt, sugar, oil and mustard seed. Bring to a boil and boil for 5 to 7 minutes. Pour over the cabbage mixture while hot. Mix well. Best if refrigerated for 24 hours. Keeps well in refrigerator for a week.
