FRIED APPLE PIES 
4 c. dried apples
2 c. water
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 stick butter

Cook apples and water until tender. Mash with a fork. Add sugar, salt, cinnamon and butter. Stir real well.

PASTRY:

2 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. sweet milk
1/2 c. vegetable oil

Combine flour and salt. Combine milk and oil, stirring well. Pour milk mixture into flour mixture, stir just until blended. Roll out dough the size of a saucer. Put fruit on half of the dough. Fold the dough to make a half pie and mash edges with fork. Fry in oil until golden brown on both sides. Makes 8 turnovers.
