BREAD & BUTTER PICKLES II 
1 gal. sliced cucumbers
8 sm. onions
1/2 c. salt
2 qt. ice cubes
5 c. sugar
5 c. vinegar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 1/2 tsp. cloves
2 tbsp. mustard seeds
1 tsp. celery seeds

Wash cucumbers and slice as thin as possible. Slice onions and combine with cucumber, salt and ice. Let stand 3 hours. Drain.

Combine vinegar, sugar and spices in a large pressure kettle. Bring to boil. Add drained onions and cucumbers. Heat thoroughly but do not boil. Pack while hot into sterilized jars. Seal and process 10 minutes in the water bath.
