WHITE BUTTERMILK CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 unbeaten egg whites
2 3/4 c. sifted cake flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 3/4 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. clear vanilla

Cream sugar and butter; add egg whites. Mix buttermilk, soda and vanilla. Sift flour and salt; mix all together. Use two (9 inch) round pans or 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees 25 to 30 minutes. Test for doneness. Frost as desired.
