SOFT PRETZELS 
1 1/2 c. warm water
1 tsp. sugar
2 pkgs. yeast
4 c. flour, more or less

Dissolve yeast in sugar and water in bowl. When yeast bubbles, add 2 cups flour and beat. Add rest of flour gradually - knead dough until firm, but not sticky (10 minutes). Let rise covered until doubled. Pinch off balls of dough, the size of medium eggs. Roll into ropes 1/2 inch round by 1 inch long. Twist into pretzel shapes. Place on greased cookie sheet. Let rise again - brush with egg (beaten with water). Sprinkle with coarse salt. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes - until golden brown.
