DATE DROP COOKIES 
1 c. butter, softened
1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
3 eggs
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. water
8 oz. Dromedary pitted dates, snipped
1 c. coarsely chopped nuts

Beat butter and sugar together in large mixing bowl until light and creamy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Sift together dry ingredients; beat into sugar mixture. Add water to dates. Stir into batter with nuts. Chill 1 hour.

Drop heaping teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake in a preheated moderate oven (325-350 degrees) for 10-12 minutes. Remove and cool on wire rack. Makes 72 (2 1/4 inch) cookies.
