DATE DROP COOKIES 
1 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 2 tbsp. hot water
2 c. chopped dates
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 c. coconut
1 c. chopped nuts

Put soda and water over dates, set aside. Cream butter and sugar well. Add beaten eggs; continue creaming. Add sifted flour, mix well. Add dates, coconut and cuts. Mix again. Drop by spoonfuls to make a 2 inch cookie. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes. Yield: 6 dozen cookies.
