THE GOSS FAMILY SAUSAGE DRESSING | |
2 stalks celery, diced 2 lg. onions, sliced and diced 1 lg. can mushrooms, with liquid 1/2 lb. mild sausage 1 can chicken broth 1 1/2 loaf bread, med. hard 6 eggs Salt, pepper, sage Dry and cube bread in large bowl. Beat eggs and add to bread cubes. Set aside. In fry pan saute onions and celery in small amount of butter until tender. Add sausage, breaking apart and browning completely. Then add mushrooms and the liquid and 1/2 can of broth (use the rest for gravy). Warm thoroughly, then add to bread mixture. Mix well and season to taste with sage, pepper and salt. Bake at 350 degrees in 9x12-inch pan until done, 30-45 minutes, depending upon how dry or moist it is preferred. |
