BUTTERSCOTCH-CHOCOLATE CHIP

2 2/3 c. sifted flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
3 eggs
1 lb. box light brown sugar
1 c. broken nuts
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate bits

In a large saucepan, melt shortening and set aside. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl and set aside. Add light brown sugar to melted shortening in saucepan. Gradually add sifted flour mixture and the eggs to the sugar mixture. Add chocolate bits and nuts. Pour into greased, wax paper lined pan, 15 x 10 x 1 inches. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Do not overbake.
