DOUGH:

1 c. sugar
1 c. butter
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt

ICING:

6 tbsp. butter
1 lb. pkg. confectioners' sugar
1/4 c. light cream
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix together dough ingredients thoroughly and chill for at least one hour. Roll out on floured surface to desired thickness and cut. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes (depending on thickness).

Mix together icing ingredients using cream and confectioners' sugar amounts to determine consistency. Add food coloring if desired and ice cooled cookies.
