GRANDMA KAPELS' BREAD 
WHITE BREAD:

2 pkgs. yeast
4 1/2 c. warm water
2 tbsp. salt
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. lard, melted
12 c. flour

DARK BREAD:

2 pkgs. yeast
4 1/2 c. warm water
2 tbsp. salt
1/2 c. lard, melted
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. syrup (dark)
6 c. dark flour (wheat)
6 c. white flour

Mix yeast with warm water until dissolved. Add salt, sugar, and melted lard. Add 6 cups flour and beat until well mixed. Add flour until right consistency is reached. Knead. Let rise 1 1/2 hours in a warm spot. Punch down and let rise again for 30 minutes longer. Lightly grease loaf pans. Make loaves out of dough and place in pans. Bake at 375 degrees for 40 minutes.
