CHOCOLATE CHIP OATMEAL CAKE 
1 3/4 c. boiling water
1 c. uncooked oatmeal, quick
1 c. packed brown sugar
1 c. granulated sugar
1/4 lb. butter
2 lg. eggs
1 3/4 c. unsifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tbsp. cocoa
1 pkg. chocolate chips
3/4 c. chopped nuts, pecans

Pour boiling water over oatmeal. Let stand at room temperature 10 minutes. Add both sugars and butter. Stir until butter is melted. Add eggs. Mix well. Sift together flour, soda, salt, and cocoa. Add this to sugar and oatmeal mixture. Mix well. Add about half the chocolate chips and pour batter into greased and floured 9 x 11 inch pan. Sprinkle with nuts and rest of chocolate chips on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Needs no frosting!
