1 c. corn or wheat flakes
1/2 tsp. double acting baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cloves
3/4 c. butter
1 egg
1/2 c. raisins
1 3/4 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. sugar
1 c. thick sweetened applesauce

Crush flake cereal, measure sifted flour. Add baking powder, soda, salt and spices; sift again. Cream butter. Add sugar and cream well. Add egg; beat well. Add flour alternately with applesauce. Mix well. Then mix in raisins and cereal.

Drop by teaspoons onto greased baking sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes about 5 dozen. For nut cookies substitute 1/2 cup chopped nuts for cereal flakes.
