MAMA'S ITALIAN MEAT AND
VEGETABLE STEW
 
1 (2 inch thick) round steak or pot roast
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tsp. sweet basil
1 1/2 tsp. paprika
Lg. can tomato sauce
1 lg. can crushed tomatoes
1 c. chopped onion
1 1/2 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 tsp. garlic
1 lg. can tomato paste
4 cans water (use tomato sauce can)

Cut round steak into chunks and brown in oil in large pot. Add all other ingredients and simmer 1 1/2 hours.

Add:

1 1/2 c. chopped celery
6 potatoes, cut into chunks
1 can cut green beans
2 c. sliced carrots
1 can peas
1/2 c. wine (optional)

Cook 1 hour longer. Taste for seasoning.
