CHRISTMAS BREAD | |
1 yeast cake 3 c. milk 2 tbsp. sugar 6 tbsp. shortening 9 c. flour 1 1/3 c. dark brown sugar 3 c. raisins 2 tsp. salt 4 tsp. cinnamon Dissolve the yeast and 2 tablespoons sugar in lukewarm milk. Add 3 cups flour, the shortening and beat until smooth. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 1/2 hours or until light. Add salt and cinnamon to the rest of the flour and sift good. Wash raisins and dry. Add to flour. Add all of this to first mixture and knead lightly. Then place in well greased bowl and let rise again for about 1 1/2 hours. Then mold into loaves and place in greased pans and let rise again about 1 hour. Bake about 45 minutes. Not into a very hot oven, burns very easy. |
