GLAZED LEMONY NUT BREAD | |
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter 3/4 cup sugar 2 eggs 2-3 tsp. grated lemon peel 2 cups sifted all purpose flour 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 3/4 cup milk 3/4 cup chopped walnuts GLAZE: 2 tbsp. lemon juice 2 tbsp. sugar Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8x4-inch loaf pan. Cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and lemon peel; beat well. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating till smooth after each addition. Stir in walnuts. Pour into prepared loaf pan. Bake at 350°F for 50 to 55 minutes or till done. Let cool in pan 10 minutes, then pour mixture of sugar and lemon over top. Remove from pan and let cool down further. Submitted by: Grace Lucie |
