1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese 1/2 lb. butter 2 c. all-purpose flour 1 tbsp. milk FILLING: 1 lb. nuts, chopped fine 1/2 tick butter 1 c. sugar 3 egg whites Work cream cheese, flour, butter and milk into a smooth dough. Form into a ball, wrap in wax paper or Saran Wrap, then place in refrigerator overnight (you can put dough in freezer for a couple of hours instead of refrigerator overnight). When ready to bake, shape into balls the size of walnuts. Roll thin in powdered sugar and spread with nut filling. Roll and pinch ends. Form crescent or as a small roll. Place on cookie sheet with loose side down to prevent opening when baking. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until delicately brown. Be sure to scrape and powder board after each rolling. |
