STRING BEANS WITH BROWN GRAVY 
Ham or a cooked ham bone
2 lbs. or more green beans
6-8 potatoes
4 tbsp. bacon drippings
3 tbsp. flour
Water to cover

Combine ham and green beans with water to cover. Bring to a boil. Add halved potatoes. Salt to taste. Brown flour in bacon drippings. It will thicken. Stir frequently to prevent over browning or burning. Add to beans when potatoes are ready to eat. Continue cooking slowly until gravy comes to desired consistency. Simmer for 5 minutes. Serves 6-10 according to the amount of beans used.
