MINESTRONE SOUP 
1 lb. chopped round steak
1 lb. Italian sausage, sliced thin
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 c. chopped onion
1 clove minced garlic
1 tbsp. basil leaves

Brown above 6 ingredients and simmer 5 minutes.

Add to first mixture and simmer 1 hour:

1 1/2 c. carrots, sliced thin
2 sm. zucchini, sliced, or okra
1 lg. can tomatoes
2 c. water
1-2 tsp. salt
1/4 to 1/2 tsp. pepper
1 c. shredded cabbage (optional)

Add 1 to 1 1/2 cups cooked pasta, drained, or 1 can Great Northern beans with liquid, 1 tablespoon parsley flakes, handful of celery tops (optional).

Heat thoroughly and serve with grated Parmesan or Cheddar cheese. Even better second day.
