GINGERBREAD BOYS | |
2 c. shortening 2 c. sugar 2 eggs 2 c. molasses 4 tbsp. vinegar 10 c. flour 3 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 4 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 pkg. cinnamon red candies Cream shortening with sugar; stir in egg, molasses and vinegar. Beat well. Sift dry ingredients; stir into molasses mix. Chill 3 hours on lightly floured surface. Roll dough to 48 inches. Cut boys with cookie cutter. Place 1-inch apart on greased sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 5 to 6 minutes. Use cinnamon candies to make face and buttons or bake and decorate with icing. Makes 5 dozen 4-inch cookies. |
