Impossible Cheeseburger Pie

Very good, easy, and really does taste like you're eating a cheeseburger. To make this vegetarian I used Boca brand meatless crumbles, and to add flavor I used a sauteed onion instead of raw, added 2 tbsp. of dill pickle relish, and about 1/2 tbsp. of Montreal steak seasoning mix (which is what we add to our burgers for flavor). To make it healthier I also added a 10 oz. package of frozen spinach (thawed and drained), 1/2 lb. of sauteed mushrooms. Would have been pretty darn boring and less filling without those changes, but it's quite tasty and decently healthy with them.

My husband and own an off shore charter fishing boat and to cover my angler spot I do all the food. I try to cover as much ahead of time as possible. I.E. cooked and frozen. This is our mates favorite. I add garlic and jalapenos. Freeze, wrap in heavy foil then just reheat in microwave. Space is a premium on the boat. I serve with fresh pica de galo and guacamole and sour cream..

It's fluffier this way. I always make this with hot country sausage. It's great for supper or breakfast and it works well in a dutch oven for camping.

I add a small can of Ortega diced chiles. It makes all the difference in the world according to my family's taste! Its a weekly meal. Today I had 2 uncooked spicey Italian sausages left over from another meal that I cooked in with the meat mixture. I'll let you know how it turned out.

I like this recipe very much for its versatility. I made it as written. I've then sautéed the onions, added olives, mozzarella, tomatoes, and olives for a pizza burger. I've done a taco/burrito style with spices, peppers, roasted corn, beans. Well you get the idea. A very nice and yummy canvas!

Made this for the first time tonite exactly as is and my teenage son and I loved it. We are both gluten free and I used a gluten free baking mix and it turned out great. My son added ketchup on the side. I served with a crisp green salad and steamed carrots. Excellent!

I use Stonewall Farm Vermont Turkey Cajun Style and extra sharp cheese (Vermont naturally!) and that's all the seasoning you need. Am making it tomorrow AM for a Christmas Brunch. Lots of compliments! Waiting for snow here in VT.
