7-UP POUND CAKE 
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
5 whole eggs, unbeaten
3 c. plain flour, sifted
1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
1 tsp. lemon flavoring
1 scant c. 7-UP

Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and continue beating. Add flour gradually; add vanilla, lemon flavoring, and lastly 7-UP, slowly (do not substitute any other carbonated bottle drink, do not use baking powder).

Pour into large tube pan; bake 1 hour and 10 minutes (longer if necessary) at 325 degrees.

CREAM CHEESE ICING:

1 box confectioners sugar
1 tsp. lemon extract
Sm. cake of cream cheese at room temperature
1 stick soft butter
4 or 5 tbsp. milk

Mix with electric beater until soft and creamy. Spread over cake.
