HARVARD BEETS 
2 cans diced beets, drained
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. vinegar
2 tbsp. salad oil

Mix sugar and cornstarch. Add water, vinegar, salad oil. Bring mixture to a boil and add drained beets. Simmer.
