MARY'S OLD FASHIONED CRULLERS | |
1 egg 2 heaping tbsp. shortening or butter, melted 3/4 c. milk 3/4 c. sugar 3 c. flour 1 tsp. cinnamon (optional) 1 tsp. vanilla Dash of nutmeg and/or mace 1 heaping tsp. baking powder Mix sugar with egg, heat butter in milk. Cool. Add sugar and egg, vanilla and spices. Combine baking powder, nutmeg, and flour; then add to the above mixture. Roll out and cut; twist into cruellers (may also be cut in rounds to make donuts). Fry in hot lard or vegetable shortening at 365°F. Makes 30 crullers. |
