APPLE TORTE 
1 qt. (4 c.) tart apples
Cinnamon
1 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. lemon juice with 1/4 c. water
1 c. sifted flour
1 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 beaten egg

Peel and slice apples; place in 8 inch square pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Cover with brown sugar. Dribble lemon juice and water over top of apples.

Mix flour, granulated sugar, salt and egg until crumbly. Spread over apple mixture. Cover pan with aluminum foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes; remove foil cover and bake 30 minutes more. Serve warm or cold; with or without ice cream.
