OLD VIRGINIA BLACKBERRY CAKE 
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
4 eggs
3 c. flour
1 tsp. ground cloves
1 tsp. grated nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. buttermilk
1 1/2 c. fresh or frozen & drained blackberries

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs; beat well. Combine dry ingredients. Add alternately with milk to batter. Fold in berries. Grease 3 (8") cake pans or bundt pan. Bake 30 minutes for layers, 45 minutes for bundt. Cool and ice cake.

ICING:

1 c. butter
1 lb. powdered sugar, sifted
1 tsp. vanilla
3 tbsp. cold, strong coffee

Combine all ingredients and beat until fluffy.
