CARAMEL BROWNIES 
1 German chocolate cake mix
3/4 c. butter
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
1 1/2 c. chopped pecans

Mix cake as directed on box. Pour half of batter in greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 15 minutes. While cake is baking, put butter, milk and caramels in saucepan over medium heat. Stir until caramels are dissolved.

When cake is done, remove cake from oven and pour caramel mixture over cake, sprinkle chocolate chips and 1 cup of nuts on top. Spread rest of cake batter over this and sprinkle other 1/2 cup nuts on top.

Return to oven and bake another 20 minutes. Needs no icing, very rich.
