HAWAIIAN STYLE YAMS 
2 (1 lb. 2 oz.) cans yams or sweet potatoes, drained
1 (8 1/2 oz.) can crushed pineapple
1/2 c. melted butter
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. coarsely chopped pecans
1/4 c. brown sugar

Slice yams into 1/2" pieces. Combine with pineapple, butter, sugar and cinnamon in 2 quart casserole. Place in microwave oven and cook for 4 minutes. Stir. Sprinkle with pecans and brown sugar. Continue cooking for 2 to 4 minutes. If dish is not hot and topping melted after 2 minutes, give 1/4 turn before continuing to cook. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
