SCRATCH CAKE 
2 c. self rising flour, sifted
2 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 c. shortening
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. water
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
Pinch salt
1/2 c. buttermilk

Combine flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon and soda. Add egg and buttermilk. Bring to a boil butter, shortening, cocoa, and water; pour into mixture. Mix well. Cook in a greased 11x16 pan. Bake 30 minutes at 400 degrees. Make icing 5 minutes before cake is done.

ICING:

1 stick butter
5 or 6 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box 4x sugar
1 c. nuts and coconut
4 tbsp. cocoa

Bring butter, milk and cocoa to a boil, stir constantly. Add to sugar. Add vanilla, nuts and coconut. Spread on hot cake.
