SIX SPICE CAKE 
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. mace
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 tsp. cloves
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
2 tbsp. molasses
3/4 c. milk

Sift flour, baking powder, salt and spices together. Cream butter. Add sugar and cream together until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add molasses and mix thoroughly. Add flour alternately with milk, a small amount at a time, beating after each addition until smooth. Bake in 2 (8 or 9 inch) layer pans at 375 degrees for 25 minutes.
