TOMATO CHEESE DUMPLINGS 
4 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. chopped onion
4 tsp. sugar
Few grains pepper
4 tbsp. flour
1 qt. tomato juice
1 tsp. salt

Melt butter, add onion, fry until golden brown. Blend in flour, add tomato juice, sugar, salt and pepper. Mix well. Bring to boil before putting in dumplings.

CHEESE DUMPLINGS:

2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 c. grated cheese (cheddar)
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk

Sift flour, baking powder and salt together, cut in 1/2 cup of grated cheese. Stir in milk, roll out like biscuits and cut with cutter. Place about a teaspoon of remaining grated cheese on 1 dumpling. Put another 1 on top. Squeeze the edge together all around. Bring sauce to a boil, drop in the dumplings. Simmer 15 to 20 minutes without lifting the cover. Serve sauce over dumplings.
