2 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. milk 1/2 c. sour cream 2 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. white syrup 1/4 tsp. salt 2 tsp. vanilla 1 c. chopped walnuts 1/3 c. quartered candied cherries Combine sugar, sour cream, milk, butter, corn syrup and salt in heavy saucepan. Stir over medium heat until sugar dissolves and mixture reaches boil to 238 degrees, soft ball stage. Remove from heat and allow to stand until lukewarm. Add vanilla. Beat until it looses gloss and begins to hold its shape, needs very little beating. Quickly stir in walnuts and cherries and turn into oiled pan. Let stand until firm. Makes 1 1/2 pounds. |
