GRANNIES STONE JAR COOKIES 
1 c. shortening (Crisco)
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 c. milk
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
3 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. pecans

Combine shortening, salt, vanilla, sugar and nutmeg. Add beaten eggs and mix thoroughly. Sift flour with soda. Add half of flour to creamed mixture. Then add milk and remaining flour and nuts, mixing well. Drop from teaspoon onto slightly greased cookie sheet. Bake in moderate 375 degree oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

Makes 6 dozen cookies.
