2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. each cinnamon, allspice and nutmeg
2 tbsp. cocoa
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. applesauce
3/4 c. raisins (I omit)
1/2 c. chopped nuts
2 tbsp. sugar (I omit)
1 pkg. chocolate chips (6 oz.)

Sift together flour, sugar, soda, salt, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and cocoa. Add shortening, eggs, applesauce, raisins and 1/2 of nuts; beat slightly.
