JAM CAKE 
5 eggs, beaten
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 c. butter
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 tsp. cloves
1 1/2 tsp. allspice
1 c. raisin or dates
1 c. nuts
1 c. jam, your choice of flavors

Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, add flour, spices, salt mixture alternately with soda dissolved in buttermilk. Beat dredged fruit and nuts in extra flour and add to mixture. Add jam. Blend well.

Grease and wax paper line two 9 inch pans and fill 2 inches deep (round pans). Bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes or until done. Cool before icing.
