STREUSEL FILLED COFFEE CAKE | |
1 1/2 c. flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 3/4 c. sugar 1/4 c. shortening 1 egg, beaten 1/2 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla Sift dry ingredients; cut in shortening. Blend in egg mixed with milk. Add vanilla. Beat just enough to mix well. Make streusel filling. STREUSEL FILLING: 1/2 c. brown sugar 2 tbsp. flour 2 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. melted butter 1/2 c. nuts, if desired Mix dry ingredients. Blend in butter and stir in nuts. Pour half of batter in loaf pan, greased and floured. Sprinkle with half of streusel filling, add remaining batter and rest of streusel filling on top. Bake about 45 minutes at 375 degrees. |
