1 c. sugar
4 tbsp. shortening, melted
2 eggs
1 tsp. mace
1 c. sour milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
4 c. flour, sifted
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix sugar, melted shortening, eggs and mace. Add remaining ingredients. If sweet milk is used omit soda and use 3 teaspoons baking powder.
