CREAM OF TOMATO SOUP 
4 c. milk
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. butter
2 c. tomatoes
Salt and pepper
1/4 tsp. baking soda

Make white sauce of milk, flour and butter. Cook tomatoes until tender, then mash through a sieve. Just before serving, add soda to tomatoes and gradually add the tomatoes to white sauce, stirring constantly. Season and serve at once. If soup begins to curdle, beat thoroughly with egg beater.
