1 c. butter
2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
3 1/2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped nuts (opt.)

Melt butter, add sugar then eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add sifted dry ingredients. After mixing divide dough in half. Place on floured wax paper in rolls. Let set in refrigerator until firm enough to slice. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees until brown.
