CONNECTICUT SUPPER 
2 lg. onions, sliced
2 tbsp. fat
2 lb. beef chuck, cut in 1-inch cubes
1 c. water
2 lg. potatoes, sliced 1/8-inch thick
1 (10 1/2 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup
1 c. commercial sour cream
1 1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 c. grated cheddar cheese
1/2 c. crushed Wheaties (1 1/4 c. uncrushed)

Brown onions in fat. Add meat and water. Cover. Simmer 50 minutes. Heat oven to 350 degrees (moderate). Pour into baking dish, 13 x 9 1/2 x 2-inches. Place potato slices over meat. Blend soup, cream, milk, salt and pepper. Pour evenly over top. Sprinkle with cheese and Wheaties. Bake uncovered 1 1/2 hours or until done. Yield: 6-8 servings.
