1 German chocolate cake mix (or chocolate fudge cake mix) 1 pkg. Kraft caramels 1/3 c. melted butter 2/3 c. chopped walnuts or pecans 5 1/3 oz. can evaporated milk 1 c. chocolate chips 1/2 c. butterscotch chips Melt caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in double boiler. Mix cake mix, butter, nuts and 1/3 cup evaporated milk (mixture will be crumbly). Place 3/4 of cake mixture in greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 6 minutes at 350 degrees. Pour caramel mixture over top. Sprinkle with chocolate chips, butterscotch chips and remaining cake mixture. Bake 15 minutes longer. Cool and cut. |
