MONKEY BREAD | |
1 c. lukewarm water 2 pkgs. yeast 1 tbsp. sugar 1 c. boiling water 1 c. Crisco 6 c. flour 2 eggs 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2 sticks butter 3/4 c. sugar Combine yeast, 1 tbsp. sugar and lukewarm water. Set aside. In large mixing bowl add Crisco dissolved in 1 cup boiling water. When water has slightly cooled add 3/4 cup sugar, 2 eggs slightly beaten and yeast mixture. To this add flour 2 cups at a time and salt. Knead well and set aside to rise until double in size. Grease 2 tube pans. Melt 2 sticks butter. Pinch dough off in small balls. Keeping hands well greased in butter, stagger in tube pans. Once again let rise until double. Bake at 300 degrees for 35 minutes, until light brown. |
