FRESH APPLE - NUT BREAD 
1/4 c. butter
1 c. packed light brown sugar
2 eggs
3 c. unsifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. grated fresh lemon rind
3/4 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. grated pared apple (1 lg.)
3/4 c. buttermilk

1. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs.

2. Mix flour, soda, baking powder, salt, lemon rind, nuts, cinnamon, nutmeg and grated apple.

3. Blend into creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.

4. Bake in prepared loaf pan at 350 degrees for approximately 1 hour.

5. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Invert.
