1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels 1 (5 oz.) can evaporated milk, divided 1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix with pudding 3/4 c. butter, melted 1 lg. egg 1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips 1 c. coarsely chopped pecans Combine caramels and 1/4 cup evaporated milk in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally until smooth, set aside. Combine cake mix, butter, egg and remaining evaporated milk. Spoon half of mixture into a greased 9x13 pan, spreading evenly; bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Remove from oven; sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans. Spoon caramel mixture on top, carefully spoon remaining cake mixture over caramel layer. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cool on a wire rack and cut into bars. |
