BOSTON BROWN BREAD 
1 1/2 c. raisin
1 1/2 c. water, boiled and cooled
1 egg
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. nuts
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. melted shortening
2 c. flour

Mix all ingredients well. Lightly grease 4 soup cans, filling them half full with batter. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour.
