1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. orange peel, grated
2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 to 3 tbsp. milk

Cream shortening with sugar. Add egg and beat well. Blend in vanilla and orange peel. Sift flour, salt and baking powder and blend with milk. Mix thoroughly. Roll 1/8 inch thick. Cut with floured cookie cutter. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes.

Makes 1 1/2 dozen.
