PECAN CRISP COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 box brown sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pecans, finely chopped

Cream shortening and butter thoroughly; gradually add brown sugar and cream well. Add well beaten eggs. Reduce speed of mixer and add the flour that has been sifted with salt and soda. Add vanilla. Stir in finely chopped pecans. Drop from the tip of teaspoon onto a greased cookie sheet, 2" apart. Top with pecan halves. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes 5 to 6 dozen.
